Tracker's End (Wind Dragons MC #3)(73)
Author: Chantal Fernando

“Answer the question,” I push.

“Yeah, of course it would. Unless another man comes near you and touches your ass or something, because then I’m going to lose my shit.”

I bring his face down to mine for easy kissing access. “Let’s go dance for a few songs, then leave.”

He shakes his head. “What the fuck have I created?”

“Someone who’s perfect for you?” I tease. “Or maybe you just brought out the real me.”

He sucks on my bottom lip. “I’ll take you any way you come, you know this.”

He rests his forehead on mine.

I kiss his lips.

Then we dance and go home.

TRACKER

WE didn’t want to do it, but we didn’t really have a choice. While everyone was at Rift tonight, we had cameras installed throughout the clubhouse. If whoever killed Allie comes back to fuck with us again, tonight or in the future, we want to know who the fucker is. It isn’t the Kings of Hell MC, although it would be so easy to blame them, especially after we knew of their VP’s association with Allie. Apparently though, the bastard was infatuated with her and wanted whoever killed her dead too.

Fuck.

We had Vinnie and Talon search the place the Kings of Hell are staying at, a warehouse about an hour from here, just to make sure. They came up with nothing. Yeah, the bastards look clean. Until they give us a reason, we’ll let them live.

The worst part though is that it looked like someone inside the clubhouse had something to do with it, or in the very least helped someone get inside.

I hope like hell that isn’t the case.

Sin’s on edge, Arrow’s on the verge of beating the truth out of anyone in his path, and I want to make sure Lana is safe no matter what the cost.

And after that, I want to marry her.

“Tracker,” Sin calls, walking up to me.

“Yeah?” I’m standing by my bike, about to come inside.

“Need to talk to you about something.”

“What?” I ask, not liking the sound of this.

“We need to leave the clubhouse to catch this bastard. Last time we were all out except a couple of the men, and all the women were home. I don’t know any other way unless we leave again. We’ll be close by, of course, but I think we should tell everyone we’re going on a run. Let no one except us know the truth.”

“You want to use the women as bait?” I ask, jaw clenching. “What the fuck, Sin?”

“You think I like it?” He curses. “It’s this, or we wait, watching over our shoulders until we find out the truth of what happened.”

“Christ,” I utter. “Maybe you should at least tell Faye. She can protect the women and it will be better if she knows what’s going on.”

Sin looks down. “Will you be okay with that? Faye knowing and not Lana?”

“I trust Faye will protect Lana,” I say. “I think I’ll feel better knowing she knows and will have the other women’s backs.”

“She is pretty badass,” Sin comments with a smirk that doesn’t reach his eyes. “I’ll tell Faye what’s going on, but no one else. We need this situation controlled. Not that I don’t trust my men. I trust you, Rake, Arrow, Irish, and Vinnie with my life. I just need everyone’s reactions to be real, I don’t want anyone to know what’s going on. I’m going to re-create the scene. Start there.”

“Smart,” I say. “Fuck, let’s get this done with. Anything you need, brother.”

He puts his hand on my shoulder. “I know.”

We need to find the bastard who dared to fuck with us right under our noses.

LANA

THE men are going on a run. It’s been a week since we were at Rift, and nothing eventful has happened. I’ve been escorted to school and back, and have pretty much moved into the clubhouse, Evie in tow. Tracker thought it would be safer for me to be here, surrounded by him and the other club members. I feel safer here too, even though this is where Allie was found. I know the people around me won’t hesitate to save my life. That’s the kind of bond the members have. They’re a family. A family not of blood but of choice. Some would say that’s more powerful.

“Lana!” Clover says, running into my room. I pick her up in my arms and swing her around.

“Hello, princess,” I tell her, kissing her plump cheek. “How are you?”

“Good,” she replies. “I’m staying at Nana’s tonight.”

“Are you now? How fun,” I tell her, putting her down.

“We’re gonna bake cookies.”

“Save one for me, will you?”

She nods. “I’ll make you a chocolate one.”

“Perfect.”

“Uncle Tracker said you like the chocolate ones,” she says, grinning.

“Uncle Tracker is right; I do.”

I love that he notices all these small details.

“There you are, Clo,” Faye says, coming in. “You ready to go to your nana’s?”

She nods and waves to me. “’Bye, Lana!”

“’Bye, sweetie.”

Faye looks at me and wrinkles her nose. “I’ll be back. Going to drop her off with Sin.”

“I’ll be here,” I say, joining Evie on my bed and opening my laptop. I’ve typed one chapter when Tracker walks in.

“We’ll be leaving in an hour,” he says, lying down next to me. “Come here.”
